Certainly the inspiration for Bambi! Pre-Columbian, Maya territories, probably from Guatemala or Honduras, Ca 500 to 900 CE. Large terracotta plate, non-footed variety, decorated in center with a single deer with rack of antlers, inside of what looks like a target of red circles. Interestingly, there is a kill hole just about where its heart would have been. 12"D x 2"H, professionally repaired but no new clay and only repainted over the break lines.
