Rare Chupicuaro Canoe-Shaped Bowl
Pre-Columbian, Guanajuato Valley, western Mexico, Ca 500 to 300 BCE. A lovely little pottery brownware bowl shaped like a canoe, with straight sides and flared rim. Perhaps an effigy vessel or used for small condiments at the dinner table... 7"L x 2-1/2"W. Repaired from three pieces, but still displays quite well.

PROVENANCE: Ex-private Fairfield, CT collection, with old collection label on it - #291.
