Rome, Ca. 2nd - 3rd Century AD. Expressive bronze mask depicts a man, possibly Cupid, with plump cheeks, small lips, strong brow, eyes with pupils, and aquiline nose; attached to a fragment of lead using three ancient nails at 9, 12, & 3 o'clock - probably a sarcophagus section. Mounted on museum quality stand. 5"H x 4-1/2"W. Choice condition, save some surface wear.
