Pre-Columbian Moche Birthing / Fertility Bowl
Northern Peru, Moche III - IV, Ca 300 to 400 CE. Oval-shaped terracotta bowl used in fertility rites; featuring a nude female, legs spread to show genitalia, arms to her sides and long straight hair to each side of her breasts; remains of original red and white pigment. 9-1/4"L x 8-1/4"W x 2-1/4"D. Intact with a few rim chips and one stabilized stress crack.
