Lovely Greek Gnathian Pottery Oinochoe

South Italy, Ignazia - known as Gnathia in ancient Greece, Ca 350 to 325 BCE. A very striking pottery pouring vessel - oinochoe - covered in deep black glaze now taking on a silvery iridescence. Very typical Gnathian grape vine decorations adorn the upper section of the vessel but more unusually, a set of crossed horns adorns the middle of the body. 5-5/8H. Intact and quite excellent with surface deposits as shown.

PROVENANCE: Ex-J. Farmer collection
