China, ca. 2nd to 1st millennium BCE. A beautifully carved jade nephrite bracelet with nice root markings and patterns in the jade and tapers to a thin point around the edges. Jade is a material that has been most prized by the Chinese, even beyond silver and gold. Associated with royalty, jade was worn by kings and nobles, even placed with the elite in their tombs as it was believed to protect the body for eternity. Size: 4-3/4" in outer diameter (12 cm); opening measures 2-1/2" in diameter (6.25 cm).
Condition: Intact with aged surface and expected nicks to edges. Overall excellent condition.
