Pre-Columbian, Colombia, ca. 1250 to 1500 CE. This charming grey/brown pottery musical instrument in the shape of a flying creature -- it appears to have a long tail and a prominent crest as well as wings and nubbed feet. Works too! The tail acts as a mouthpiece. Size: 3-3/4"L x 2-3/4"H x 2-1/2"W (9-1/2 cm x 7 cm x 6-1/2 cm).

Condition: One of the "wings" is missing; otherwise the ocarina is intact.

Provenance: Ex-private T. Jones collection, New York, NY
