Paul Strand, "Woman of Pátzcuaro" Copper-plate Gravure
Paul Strand "Woman of Pátzcuaro" From the Mexican Portfolio, 1932-33, Hand-Pulled Gravure (2nd Edition) In 1940, Lee Strasberg, (director of the Group Theater in New York), became very interested in Paul Strand's photographs of Mexico taken in 1932 and 1933. Strasberg encouraged Strand to produce a portfolio selected from this body of work. Strand insisted that the only reproduction method that could achieve the quality of his platinum images was to make hand-pulled gravure prints. The printing and production of this Second Edition was supervised by Paul Strand, personally, and Aperture, Inc. High-Quality Museum Frame, 14" x 18" with UV Glass, 8-Ply Museum Rag Matte, Image size 5" x 6.25"
