Silver Mounted Meiping Vase
Kangxi Period, Qing Dynasty
Porcelain with underglaze cobalt blue
h: 15 cm
Perfect silver mounted condition
From an old private collection, Geneva, Switzerland
Early Chinese porcelain exported to Europe were highly treasured. This small vase's mounting in marvelously worked silver is a testament to its enduring beauty and value. The porcelain body is quite standard for Kangxi blue & white: the pattern is the well known "long Eliza / lange lijzen" with floral enhancements. The silverwork appears to be 18-19th century Dutch, with a lion passant mark. A silver mounted teapot from the same collection, and with the same lion mark is also up for auction this week (see our other lots).
