Ca. 1730s-40s, early 18th century
Early Qianlong period, Qing dynasty
Porcelain with overglaze famille rose enamels
D: 22.3 cm / 8.8 in
From a Belgian private collection
A nice early Qianlong period famille rose export plate in flawless condition, with brightly enameled floral sprays and bouquets. The design is an interesting synthesis of Chinese motifs (such as the typical trellis-diaper borders and the plum blossoms) with European rococo naturalism (the central flower bouquet).
Condition report: This plate is in perfect condition. There is some slight enamel age-wear. As for original manufacturing flaws, there is an extremely tiny flake to the café-au-lait rim, as well as a small spot of glaze imperfection to reverse.
