Late 19th – early 20th century
Late Qing Dynasty – Republic period
Porcelain with monochrome blue glaze
Height: 28.5 cm / 11.2 in, Width: 18.3 cm / 7.2 in (at widest point)
From a Northern California private collection

A late Qing / Republic anarchistic vase, shaped after “hu” bronze vessels. Its glaze is a semi-translucent bubbly blue, thinning near edges to create beautifully pale contours all around the piece. A particularly compelling aesthetic affect is the dripping of the glaze from mouth rim to foot, leaving visible trails around the body and pooling past the foot and handles.

Condition: good antique condition: chipped and rough foot, a single glaze line (does NOT affect body) to one side.
