Mid Qing Dynasty
Porcelain with white glaze & overglaze famille rose enamels
Height: 12 cm
Width: 11 cm
From a northern California estate
An unusual and rare 19th c white glazed porcelain libation cup, modeled almost entirely after rhinoceros horn carvings of the same form. The square sides are molded with 9 kuilong dragons in high relief, while the center is relief-decorated with taotie masks.
Condition: There are signs of a very good professional touch-up to a corner of the cup (approximately 3.5 x 1 cm), where a chip was likely repaired and painted over. The restoration is very well done almost invisible to the eye. Otherwise, this piece is in good antique condition. [Please examine all photos carefully, as they are part of the condition report.]
