The nice small blue and white plates were used in the household around 100 years ago as food containers. They were known as MinYao or people’s wares meaning the commercial wares produced for local market or trade.
The designs were drawn from nature like flowers, animals and landscape.
As for this lot, they were painted with fish in the middle, with leafy spray on the back. Since they were produced by hands, each fish has its own distinctive characters.
Every plate comes with displaying wooden stand.
