Burmese Mandalay Carved Ivory Tusk Depicting the Buddha

Carved on the end of an elephant tusk with delicate openwork foliage motif, depicting the seated Buddha inside in “Calling the Earth to Witness” posture, the exterior was lacquered and gilt.

Age: Burmese, Mandalay period, 19th century.
Measurement: Width 7.4 C.M./ Height 13.5 C.M.
Condition: Some parts of the openwork foliage motif are broken, with natural cracks due to age. Please refer to the enlargement photos for more details.
