18th Century, Shan, Burmese Alabaster Buddha

Burmese alabaster buddha sitting in Mara Vijaya (calling the earth to witness) posture on lotus base, with meditative facial expression, emphasized by the half-closed eyes which look downward.

Top of the head is a stupa-shaped "flame" or called usnisa, symbol of the realization of Nirvana or indicative of supreme knowledge.

Age: Burma, Shan period, circa 18th Century
Measurement: Height 48.3 C.M. / Width 27.6 C.M. (size excluding black stand)
Condition: Nice conditon overall (some expected degradation due to its age). Please refer to the enlargement photos for more details.
