18th Century, Rare and Nice Burmese Alabaster Buddha

Rare and nice Burmese alabaster buddha sitting in Mara Vijaya (calling the earth to witness) posture on lotus base, with meditative facial expression, emphasized by the half-closed eyes which look downward, and traces of original lacquer remaining.

Top of the head is a stupa-shaped "flame" or called usnisa, symbol of the realization of Nirvana or indicative of supreme knowledge.

Age: Burma, Shan period, circa 18th Century
Measurement: Height 65.5 C.M. / Width 44 C.M. (size excluding black stand)
