 19th Century, Thai Wooden Sitting Buddha

Thai wooden Buddha sitting in Mara Vijaya (calling the earth to witness) posture on a base, with meditative facial expression, painted with lacquer and gilding.

Top of the head is a stupa-shaped "flame" or called usnisa, symbol of the realization of Nirvana or indicative of supreme knowledge.

Age: Thailand, circa 19th Century
Measurement: Height 16.5 C.M. / Width 7.5 C.M.
