Very large and rare Tai Rue Burmese wooden Buddha sitting in Mara Vijaya (calling the earth to witness) posture on a base, with calm facial expression. Traces of original lacquer and gilding remain in good condition. Top of the head is a stupa-shaped "flame" or called usnisa, symbol of the realization of Nirvana or indicative of supreme knowledge.

Tai Rue is a tribal people living in Burma. It is difficult to find Buddha from this ethnic group.

Measurement: Height 167.5 C.M. / Width 50 C.M.
