Sorry - this item now SOLD
This pretty glass has a round funnel bowl nicely engraved with cornflowers and ornamental leaves above a mixed twist stem made up of a single spiral thread alternating with a spiral air cable standing on a plain conical foot with broken pontil mark. The glass is nicely made and of good proportions. The engraving is of better quality than is usually found in English engraving of this period and may have Jacobite interest. Mixed twists are considered to be of greater rarity than colour twists. E.Barrington Haynes in his book Glass Through the Ages (p277) says of this, "There is little to choose in rarity between the conventional Mixed Twist and Coloured Twist... there are roughly forty Mixed Twists to fifty Colour Twists... although at present (Mixed Twists) present a less expensive (choice)." And that is still the case nearly sixty years later.
In fine original condition with normal wear to the bowl and foot rims.
