Presenting a very sweet antique Kestner bisque child doll with quality bisque, original kid body, and factory original dress.
This mold 154 was one of Kestner’s most popular dolls, and has the very typical and sought after Kestner look. She is marked “Dep 10/154”.
Her bisque head and shoulderplate are free from any hairlines, cracks or restoration.
She has molded brown multi-stroke eyebrows, thick and glossy, and beautiful brown sleep eyes with painted upper and lower lashes, and original wax on eyelids.
Her mouth is open with the typical Kestner decoration and four upper teeth.
She has the heavy and well-made kid leather original body with pinned hips and knees (replaced with buttons on one knee somewhere along her journey), gusseted elbows and large, well-molded hands, which have some chips on the ends of the fingers. The body is sturdy, but dirty (no leaks or tears). The lower legs and feet are also kid leather (instead of cloth) and have stitched toes.
Her wig was replaced prior to 1979 when I bought her. It is a cute style wig with antique comb securing a bun on top, curly bangs, and long wavy hair of a reddish brown color. She also has her original plaster pate.
Her clothing consists of pantaloons, white socks, replacement vintage cream shoes (with one missing its bow), a beautiful antique white cotton slip with embroidery and lace, and what I believe to be her FACTORY ORIGINAL antique dress. It is a thin, gauzy white cotton with lace insert yoke and lace trim and collar. It has never been washed, so is original finish and starch. What a lovely shelf-ready treasure!
