Lovely abstract still life signed P. Collomb. Paul Collomb (1921-1998) was a french painter. A native of Ain, he studied art in Paris before World War II. He won the Premier Second Gard Prix de Rome in 1950. Collomb's work has drawn comparisons to that of Maurice Boitel. His work may be found in the Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Modern Art Museum of Utrecht, the Museum of Jakarta, the Museum of Tel Aviv, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
This lovely painting is attributed to french maritime painter Baron Jean Antoine Théodore Gudin (1802-1880). Well known for his navy scenes, Gudin was a pupil Girodet-Trioson and was one of the first fleet painters under the court of Louis Phillipe and Napolean III.
Frits Mondriaan Dutch 1853-1932 Hague School landscape oil on canvas framed in original antique gilt frame signed lower left in very fine condition. Frits Mondriaan was the uncle of the famous Modernist artist Piet Mondrian and was instrumental in teaching him how to paint during his youth. Measuring 21" x 31.5" inches overall framed size 34" x 43". A fine painting and nice addition to any collection.
