SOLD THANK YOU T.
Kestner’s beloved 211 mold, referred to as “Sammy”, is on his last voyage, and excited to meet his new owner at the dock! I am pleased to offer this adorable baby in his wool navy blue 2 piece suit, as large as life, or perhaps even larger, sitting 19" tall and 26” in length with hat on.
Though I’ve chosen not to disturb his fur wig to check, I have another of this size where the markings are visible. He would be marked with JDK 211 under his hair on the back of his head and likely also with a Q – 20, since this is the largest size made.
HEAD: The bisque head is in excellent condition with no cracks, hairlines, or repairs. Cheery and healthy from his time at sea, his complexion is smooth and the details of his brows, lashes and mouth are very well executed by an experienced craftsman of the time, circa. !910. I love his parted lips with the pearly milk glass bottom teeth. His fur wig is generally good but has a few thin or missing areas with two small sections added in at front and side.
Now, ever so popular to display in full size vignettes by himself or with your other large dolls, he is perfect for dressing in real baby gowns and clothing from the period. He will be guaranteed to offer hours of fun!
BODY: His original body is in excellent condition for its age of over 100 years with the blushing and accent lines still showing on his feet and hands and otherwise original finish with no touch ups. There is a little wear to his hands only with some surface craze lines across two fingers. These do not appear to be breaks or re-glued fingers.
CLOTHING: His wool trousers and matching top have been more recently made and suit him perfectly. His hat is an adorable antique cream color wool tam with a large silk pom pom on top and ribbons trailing off the back. It has some age discoloration inside and out, a little melting of the silk lining, with a small hole and stain on the side, but the combination is a keeper!
