SOLD Thank you so much
The sculptor of this winsome German Character 101 by Kammer and Reinhardt captured the fleeting expressive daydream of his adorable little child model. Don’t you just wish you could read his mind? I am pleased to offer this 13inch fellow with excellent bisque and wonderfully detailed costume to slip right into your cabinet!
HEAD: His perfect bisque, (without wig pulls often found on these dolls), is incised with the typical markings as shown and the size number 34. Known as “Peter”, he has just the right coloring, depth of modeling and artistry combined to give him such appeal! His blue eyes are painted simply but have the added detail of the darker tone around the iris and the pupil touching the upper heavy lid line, which accomplishes the pensive expression. If you shop around and look at some others available, you will notice that without this, they just are not as appealing. His two-tone mouth actually has the affect of an accent line on the bottom lip and the one-stroke brows are carefully placed so he isn’t frowning. He still has his original cardboard pate and wispy ash blond mohair wig. For full disclosure, a tiny paint skip under his left brow was professionally touched up with china paint and cannot be noticed even with great magnification.
BODY: His original body looks lovely with shiny lacquer finish, hands in great condition, and blushing on knees. There does not appear to be paint wear with the exception of chipping at the upper thigh joints where it appears there has been an old repaint with a craze split line going down the outer thigh for about 1.5 inches. This is all covered by his undies and pants, of course. The stringing is a bit loose but I preferred to leave it since he held his position without a stand for his photo shoot.
CLOTHING: He is all decked out for his cousin’s birthday party! Complete with his sewn-on undershirt and underpants that are stitched together as a combination and have not been removed, a cream color hand-sewn suit of antique cotton pique (some staining on the jacket as shown), matching knit knee high socks, great old leather shoes and a navy blue felt hat, I found him calling my name. Glass buttons and light blue trim accent the ensemble and there are even hand worked buttonholes! Won’t he look great in a vignette with your other dolls?
