One of the joys of my childhood was to peek into other peoples' gardens through these verticulated tiles. Four of these tiles form a pattern,each tile is about 12" square. These four are already installed in a garden, but there are similar ones that will appear later.

This dramatic cabinet crowned with architectural ornament is painted with brilliant colors of red, yellow and blue. The drama is created by the painting on the doors - two colorful confronting dragons on a red background beneath, each under a Garuda with wide spread wings. Under the dragons are three fire breathing bulls. The cabinet sits on a base decorated with flowers. The dimensions for the crown is 58" wide by 25" deep. The cabinet is 46.5" wide and 18" deep...
The name Ren Ganting 1889-1968 is very well respected by collectors of Yixing wares. He was known as a painter and an engraver. Ren Ganting was the foremost carver of his day and he worked for many companies including Wu Deshang, Chendinghe and Tiehuaxuan. Tiehuaxuan in Shanghai was famous for the excellence in calligraphic decoration. The pair of vases here, made of red Yixing clay and painted with a beige color slip is a fine example...

The tust is appx. 30" Long X 4.5" at it's widest and has been hollowed out. No carving other than around the mouthpiece has been hollowed out. It was purchased more than 30 years ago from a shop that specialized in African artifacts near Lincoln Center.

This Two door Tibetan Cabinet painted with animals sacred to Tibetan Buddhism elephants, deer and lions. Dimensions are 72" wide x 18" deep x 34" high. Two doors each have a crack.
