Khmer Torso of Vishnu
Price on Request

This figure is carved from one piece of sandstone it is 30.6 cm high, 16.9 cm wide and 7.8 cm deep. I purchased this Vishnu from a reputable dealer that I purchased most all my Khmer stoneware from. She dated the piece to be 11th to 12th Century. In the summer of 2002 I took a piece over to Pieter Myers at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for a second opinion. While the Vishnu was with Dr. Myers, Hab Tauch who at the time was the deputy director of the National Museum of Cambodia was visiting in Los Angeles, he and Dr. Myers gave it an earlier date of 10th to 11th century because of the buckle on the belt was only produced in that period of time. Included with the Vishnu, the certificate picture attached , Dr. Myers technical examination report with picture attached his original invoice for which I paid him $300, as well as other, correspondence between Dr. Myers and myself all original. If Pieter Myers is not known to you, he is considered to be an expert on the authenticity of Khmer stoneware as well as bronzes. He wrote chapter 3 of the book titled "Adoration and Glory". If you are looking for authentic Khmer piece this is the one to buy, if you wish additional pictures please let me know. Buyer will pay packing and shipping charges, if you live in Chicago you are welcome to pick up
