A rare and attractive form of overshot glass -- a plain base rolled in glass chips and refired -- is this globular ink-well or vase, approximately 3-1/4 inches in diameter. In this instance, the piece was then polished to lend the body a metallic golden look, studded with jewels. American, circa 1875, it is in mint condition.

In mint condition, this excellent overshot glass decanter by the noted Boston & Sandwich Glass Company would have been the pride of a grand Victorian dining room. There is a built-in pocket for ice and the twisted rope handles are particularly graceful. American, circa 1870, approximately 11 inches tall and 6-1/2 inches at widest point. Not having found a similar example, I do not know if this mustard pot is American, English or Continental. The glass body, with its design of stylized scallop shells, is formed in a three-part mould, and the hinged pewter top is of good weight and secure. It probably dates from the mid-Nineteenth Century and is about four inches tall, 2-1/2 inches in diameter, with a stemmed base about 1-3/4 inches in diameter.

A superb example of Art Nouveau organic form is this two-part glass vase, a tribute to Venice's ancient connection to the sea. A pair of "sea fronds" -- actually a linked tube of pink glass, pulled and formed -- rises to a height of 12-1/2 inches above their support of shaded red "coral." The vase is in mint condition and is approximately four inches at the widest point. Circa 1900.

$350.00

Tall and glamorous, this finely crafted glass overlay vase is a real tour de force. The underlying white glass layer lends a varied luster to the turquoise blue, rather like ancient Persian glazes. The tall-necked baluster form of the piece and the intricate palmate and dotted designs enameled on the surface, echo this appeal to Orientalism. There is a hallmark that I have not deciphered, a script letter "A" in an artist's palette. English or Continental, circa 1880. Condition ...click for details
