To expedite the Christian Crusade to "liberate" the Holy Land from the "infidels" gold coins in imitation of the dinar of Caliph al-Amir were minted in fine gold. No city is cited, but they were probably coined in Jerusalum. Ironically, the faulty kufic inscriptions extol the power and and virtues of Mohammad. First phrase, 1100-1131 AD. Approximately 7/8 inch in diameter, 3.92 g.wt. EF condition.
