An incredible tour-de-force of needlework is this small gem, combining a myriad of techniques to portray a basket of flowers surrounded by other flowers and borders, all in multicolor silks and silver-gilt threads and sequins. Back is in plain cream silk. A beautiful object for a textile collection or for a doll's house. English or Continental, circa 1810, approximately 2-1/2 inches by 2-1/8 inches.

This excellent little example of ancient glass was uncovered in Southern France. Probably a cosmetic or perfume bottle made for export in Syria, its bulbous little body bears three bold applied bosses of lions heads, all in a fine shade of blue-green. Approximately 2-1/4 inches tall and the same wide, it is in excellent condition, with a generalized iridescence of age. First or Second Century.

This elegant tripod incense burner in fine Kutani porcelain is cylindrical in form and has cloud-form handles with detached rings. The straight-sided walls are reticulated to show the double-wall construction, both sides showing a fortuitous phoenix alighting on a fence. The top is a reticulated double dome. Brilliant glazes of rouge-de-fer, turquoise, blue and mustard are enhanced with fine gilding. Height is approximately four inches and full diameter about 4-1/2 inches...

Elegant in form and decoration, this cup for is a momemto of a visit to Timburgh bei Dureheim to take the waters, the towered town of which is beautifully engraved in a cartoche on the front of the classically tapered body. Silesian, third quarter of the Nineteenth Century, it is in superb condition, with no chips, cracks or breaks.

The bespectacled character protrayed on this antiques nutcracker could possibly be an old woman, but I choose to think that it Guisseppe, the widower who fashioned his "son" Pinocchio to ease his loneliness. Whichever and whatever, the carving is full of character. Tyrolean or Swiss, late Nineteenth Century, it is in fine condition, with only minor wear and no repairs, and is about eight inches in length and 1-3/4 inches wide and three inches deep.

Not a copy, but a clever assimulation of the style of a denarius of the Roman Republic is this the pendant of this German iron watch fob; even the metal replicates the patina of an antique. This little beer-lover is amazingly lifelike, with his beaming, pudgy face and stein held to his heart. There is an almost Roman portraiture quality to the bust, which lifts of to reveal a mustard pot. The two little barrels are for toothpicks and the original mustard spoon, stored behind the figure, is intact. It is in excellent shape with only minimal wear to the over-glaze paint and almost none to the oil gilding. French or German, late Nineteenth Century...

A lovely bit of nostalgia for the lover of French cafe life, this porcelain pyrogene promotes quinine-laced Dubonnet, still a great favorite throughout the world, and announces that the aperitif won the Grand Prix at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1900. The lightly crackled glaze is the drink's lovely yellow-green shade. In excellent condition, it measures around 3-5/8 inches in diameter and almost three inches high.

The pride of the 1930's Matson Line was the luxury Liner "Lurline" (named for the Matsons' daughter). These cabinets, removed when the craft was renovated as a troop ship in 1942,came from the saloon of the ship and are fashioned of walnut and maple, with finely carved boxwood panels on each door. Measuring about 30 inches by 14 inches by 31-1/2 high they provide excellent lock-up storage with two shelves inside.
