The pride of the 1930's Matson Line was the luxury Liner "Lurline" (named for the Matsons' daughter). These cabinets, removed when the craft was renovated as a troop ship in 1942,came from the saloon of the ship and are fashioned of walnut and maple, with finely carved boxwood panels on each door. Measuring about 30 inches by 14 inches by 31-1/2 high they provide excellent lock-up storage with two shelves inside.

In this case (3-1/2 inches by 7-1/2 inches) of finely grained Madagascar ebony are all the toiletry implements necessary to maintain a gentleman during his travels: a brace of razors, a double- and a single-bladed pocket knife, an awl, a button hook, a multi-use fingernail tool and corkscrew for toiletry bottles, all in finest surgical steel and ivory. The razors bear the hallmark of English manufacturers R. Hovenden & Son and are as sharp as the day they were made, probably around 1870...

An inspired and humorous sculpture by noted contemporary sports artist Jenness Cortez, this little dude radiates vitality. The cold-painted colors on the bronze bring it even more to life. In pristine condition, it measures approximately five inches by 3-5/8 inches by 8-1/4 inches high, exclusive of its 3/4-inch marble base and is number 27 of an edition of 50, with Cortez's signature and copyright mark and date 1986. A lovely bit of nostalgia for the lover of French cafe life, this porcelain pyrogene promotes quinine-laced Dubonnet, still a great favorite throughout the world, and announces that the aperitif won the Grand Prix at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1900. The lightly crackled glaze is the drink's lovely yellow-green shade. In excellent condition, it measures around 3-5/8 inches in diameter and almost three inches high.

This little beer-lover is amazingly lifelike, with his beaming, pudgy face and stein held to his heart. There is an almost Roman portraiture quality to the bust, which lifts of to reveal a mustard pot. The two little barrels are for toothpicks and the original mustard spoon, stored behind the figure, is intact. It is in excellent shape with only minimal wear to the over-glaze paint and almost none to the oil gilding. French or German, late Nineteenth Century...
