Not a copy, but a clever assimulation of the style of a denarius of the Roman Republic is this the pendant of this German iron watch fob; even the metal replicates the patina of an antique. Third quarter of the Nineteenth Century. "Coin" is about an inch in diameter and the fob's over-all length 2-3/4 inches.

The bespectacled character protrayed on this antiques nutcracker could possibly be an old woman, but I choose to think that it Guisseppe, the widower who fashioned his "son" Pinocchio to ease his loneliness. Whichever and whatever, the carving is full of character. Tyrolean or Swiss, late Nineteenth Century, it is in fine condition, with only minor wear and no repairs, and is about eight inches in length and 1-3/4 inches wide and three inches deep.

Elegant in form and decoration, this cup for is a momemto of a visit to Timburgh bei Dureheim to take the waters, the towered town of which is beautifully engraved in a cartoche on the front of the classically tapered body. This elegant tripod incense burner in fine Kutani porcelain is cylindrical in form and has cloud-form handles with detached rings. The straight-sided walls are reticulated to show the double-wall construction, both sides showing a fortuitous phoenix alighting on a fence. The top is a reticulated double dome. Brilliant glazes of rouge-de-fer, turquoise, blue and mustard are enhanced with fine gilding. Height is approximately four inches and full diameter about 4-1/2 inches...

This excellent little example of ancient Roman glass was uncovered in Southern France. Probably a cosmetic bottle, its bulbous little body bears three bold applied bosses of lions heads, all in a fine shade of blue-green. Approximately 2-1/4 inches tall and the same wide, it is in excellent condition, with a generalized iridescence of age. First or Second Century.

This attractive tobacco bottle from French Camaroon, circa 1920, is carved from fine boxwood with the likeness if a Legionnaire in his visored cap, which still bears much of its ebonizing. The bottle opens with a simple screw-cap, and a boxwood spoon is attached by a leather thong through the figure’s neck. Around 5-1/2 inches tall and 1-1/4 inches wide.
