I love the three-dimensional effect of this pure-silver ice bucket, a tribute to the genius of Japanese metal smiths. Bamboo-form trim is so exquisitely detailed as to seem almost detachable; in places it actually stands free! Probably an Imperial commission, the monogram and crest of the French Pretender, Albert-Louis de Bourbon, rises in high relief from the shimmering martele ground – superb!
The main body of the bucket is approximately five inches high and 5-1/4 inches in diameter at the top, about eight inches high with the handle up. Hallmarks indicate highest silver content, almost pure; weight is 18 ounces Troy. Condition is excellent ,commiserate with age, with some bottom dimpling that can be straightened out by a competent silversmith.
