|Some day the fine art of letter-writing will be gone the way of five-cent coffee and the button-hook, but there once was a time when it was daily pleasure, even while traveling, and so the implements of correspondence went along with the traveler. And unless one had the luxury of retainers, it was necessary to make one’s impedimenta as light as possible. Here is an elegant little aid to the writer, a calamander ebony inkpot, simple but luxurious. Its screw-on top fits tightly and precisely to protect and seal the blown glass bottle within, and the delightful thing could probably be used even today, a true jewel for the recherché. British, Nineteenth Century. Excellent condition. Approximately 2-1/8 inches tall by 1-1/8 inches in diameter.|
