| By its hallmark, “Bennett & Caldwell,” it is possible to date this superb mug to between 1843 and 1848, the Philadelphia partnership that eventually led to today’s J E Caldwell & Company.(To see this piece's cousin, please view another cup that descended in the Biddle family, Trocadero #21177.) All in neo-Rococo style, the ballooned sides boast panels of repousse rose festoons alternating with plain, bordered panels, one bearing the initials “CB.” The applied ogee rim blends in with the matching handle. It is approximately 3-1/2 inches high and 4-1/2 inches wide at the handle. Coin or sterling purity and in excellent condition. | ||||||
