| The creator of this amusing seat probably never saw a Seventeenth Century Burgundian salt stool, but this delightfully resembles one! Probably designed as a close stool to house the chamber pot, it is made of softwood that has been darkly varnished; traces of gold paint outline some of the elements. The interior hinges have been replaced and the top is now covered in a heavy antique striped wool with natural dyes. A truly charming example of primitive furniture. American, probably late Nineteenth Century; approximately 16 inches by 14 inches by 17-1/2 inches high. | ||||||||||
