A Roman marble statue of Sylvanus, circa 2nd-3rd century AD. Depicted standing on an hight integal plinth with his weight on his right leg, his left bent and pulled back, with the heel raised, a tree-trunk support and a dog to his right, wearing a tunic and sandals, his fruit-laden animal skin pinned at his right shoulder, draped over his left shoulder and arm, and falling down his back, holding his drapery in his left hand, a Greek inscription on the front of the plinth Reading:" ... Gaios, solider, dearing the gods, (paid his)vow to Albinos". Provenance: LLuis Ribas Colomer, acquired in Syria and brought to Girona, Spain 1970's. Publisehd at christie's, 5/12/2012 LOT 89.
