This Bizen guinomi (sake cup) with a fine firing was made by another one of the best of the younger potters working in Bizen today. Miyao Masahiro is very popular in Japan and holds many awards. It is 2 ¾” high and 2 ½” in diameter and is in excellent condition.

This is a nicely fired small guinomi (sake cup) by Yokoyama Naoki (1970~) who is one of the best of the younger generation of Bizen potters. It is 2” high and 2 1/8” in diameter. There is a maker’s mark on the bottom. It is in excellent condition.

This is a fine quality Madara style Karatsu chawan (tea bowl) in the Japanese taste by one of the finest late 20th century Karatsu potters working in Japan, Nakagawa Jinembo (1953~2011). The chawan is signed on the bottom by the foot. Since the original box was lost, the chawan comes with an attested and signed box by noted authority and dealer of Japanese ceramics, Robert Yellin. This is a very nicely fired large sake bottle by Morimoto Yoshinobu. The bottle is fired in the style of Abe Anjin, one of the greats of contemporary Bizen style pottery. Morimoto studied with Abe Anjin before setting up his own studio. It is 6” high and 4” from the widest part. The artist’s signature is on the top of the original wood box. It is in excellent condition.

This fine tall sake vessel (could be used as a small vase) with geometric decoration was made by noted porcelain artist Yoshikawa Masamichi. Yoshikawa has won numerous awards and his works are held in many collections worldwide. He is also noted for his installations in public places in Japan. It is 7 5/8” high and 2 ¾” from the widest part. The artist’s signature is inside of the original wood box and on the bottom of the vessel. It is in excellent condition.

The fine white ash glazed tea caddy with cast bronze lid was made by the very popular Japanese potter Ishii Takahiro. He apprenticed with Kakurzaki Ryuichi, one of the most sought after contemporary Bizen artist-potters. Ishii's exhibitions are quite often sellouts due to the quality of his work. It is 4 3/8” high and 3” in diameter. The artist’s signature is on the top of the original wood box. It is in excellent condition.

This is a very nice Nezumi (gray-mousy) Shino guinomi (sake cup) by contemporary Japanese potter Oguri Masao who is known for his Shino wares. The thick glazing makes this guinomi suitable for warm or hot sake. It is 2 ¼” high and 2 ¼” in diameter. Tsukigata originated the name Oni Shino for the dark, powerful style of firing of this fine sake bottle. He studied with Arakawa Toyozo, one of the all time greats of 20th century Japanese ceramics. A very fine jomon-zogan (cord impressed design) small bowl (ko-bachi) with overglaze enamel designs was made by the late LNT Shimaoka Tatsuzo (1919-2007). Shimaoka’s use of this design is a major factor to his designation as a Japanese Living National Treasure. It could also be used as a small chawan (tea bowl), but wasn't made as one. It is 3” high and 5 ¼” in diameter. The artist’s signature is on the bottom. It is in excellent condition.
