This very nicely fired crusty style Bizen vase was made by Matsui Tosen, a veteran potter. His work is popular in Japan and very reasonably priced for the quality of the firing. It is 8” high and 3 1/4” in diameter. The artist name and seal are on the top of the original wood box; his signature is on the bottom of the vase. It is in excellent condition.

This very nice small iron glazed vase with polychrome over glaze decoration was made by Hamada Tomoo, grandson of Living National Treasure Hamada Shoji, the most famous Japanese potter of the 20th century. Tomoo has worked to revitalize the Mashiko pottery tradition with newer, more original works such as this vase. It is 5 Ύ” high and 3 Ύ” wide from the bottom. The artist’s signature is inside of the original wood box. It is in excellent condition.

This iron glazed vase was made by Robert Briscoe, a well known potter from the Duluth, Minnesota area. The vase which has an iron glazed body with ash glaze highlights shows Japanese influence. It is perfect for flower arrangements (ikebana) or display in an alcove (tokonoma). It is 12” high and 6 Ό” wide. It is in excellent condition.

Tsukamoto (b. 1959) is from Gifu prefecture and is very accomplished in many of the Mino styles, including Shino and Oribe. This is a very finely glazed eared vase with a very richly surfaced Nezumi Shino glaze and an unusual placement of the ears. It comes with an artist's signed box. It is 9 ½” high and 5 ½” on the widest part. It is in excellent condition.
