Japanese print by Ishiwata Koitsu ( 1897-1987 ) AMATUER WRESTLING MATCH This was printed in 1931 by Watanabe and carries the Watanabe B seal used 1927-1932. This print is considered a 1st edition by some. Excellent color, impression and condition. Never mounted. See other listing for bio material. Ishiwata prints from this period are very hard to find.

Japanese print by Ishiwata Koitsu( 1897-1987 ) DOG SHOW This was printed in 1931 by Watanabe and carries the Watanabe B seal used 1927-1932. Thus, it could be considered a 1st edition. Excellent color, impression and condition; never mounted. Ishiwata worked for Watanabe during the 1930's and is sometimes confused with Tsuchiya Koitsu, who also worked for Watanabe publishing. Japanese print by Kawase Hasui ( 1883-1957 ) CLEARING AFTER SNOWFALL AT THE ASAKUSA KANNON TEMPLE This print was issued in 1926 by Watanabe and carries the series seal and the Watanabe A date seal used from 1924-1930. Thus, it would be considered a 1st edition print by some. Excellent impression, color and condition. Purchased by the original owner at the Toledo Museum print shows in the 1930's. Never mounted.

Japanese print by Kasamatsu Shiro( 1898-? ) EVENING SKY AT SUWA SHRINE, NIPPORI, 1932 The print is from 1932. Shiro worked for the publisher Watanabe starting in 1919 and was popular with western buyers. Later in the 1950's, he became interested in the Sosaku Hanga movement. This is an original print; some would call it a first edition as it carries the Watanabe C seal used from 1932 to WWII. This inlayed Chinese ebony brush holder is 7” high and 6 ½” in diameter. It depicts a Shou Lao (god of longevity) holding a cane; a young boy carrying a flower basket stands behind him. Another young boy wearing a red robe is leading a deer cart filled with flowers and plants and walks in front of Shou Lao and his companion. The inlayed materials are dyed coral, mother of pearl, lacquer and hard stone. It is a 1950’s product. Aside from small age cracks, it is in great condition.

This very well carved 20th century Japanese netsuke is 1 ½ inches high, 1 ¼ inches wide and a little more than 1 ¼ inches thick. It depicts a mouse bending over, scratching his chin. It is signed “Shozan”. The carving and polishing are just great and it is in excellent condition.

This old cherry amber bead necklace is 29 inches long. The beads are 17 mm long and 12 mm wide. The large bead on the end is 23 mm long and 18 mm wide. The stupa shape bead is about 48 mm long and 18 mm wide. It is in great condition.

This very well painted Chinese Famille Rose ceramic picture is 8 ¾ inches wide and 11 ¾ inches long (with frame is 14 ½ inches wide and 19 ½ inches long). It depicts two long-tailed birds standing on a higher branch looking at their offspring in their nest. This tile picture is a 1940’s product. It is in excellent condition.

This 20th century export Japanese ivory okimono is 7 ¾ inches high, 2 ½ inches wide and 1 ¼ inches deep. It depicts a well dressed young geisha wearing formal straw hat and carrying an instrument ready to perform. There is a red artist signature on the side. It is in excellent condition.
