Age is difficult to determine, but these could have been imported to the U.S. as early as 1891, when it became a requirement that U.S. import items show country of origin in English; each of these is lightly stamped on the reverse with "Made in China." The year they were painted in China, however, cannot be known for sure. Size & condition varies; each painting is apx. 2.5" x 3.75" (6.35 x 9.52 cm), and the box is apx. 3.25" x 4.25" (8.25 x 10.79 cm). Each piece in the set can be matted, even though some edges may be broken off. Although condition varies slightly, it is excellent overall.
