| Two exquisite, very rare, two-piece English, Royal Worcester, porcelain, double-handled, footed Cream Soup Bowls and Underplates, mark of 1929. The wide saucer band is etched in an all-over gold pattern, with an elegant, melodic raised gold pattern of shells, leaves, berries and concentric circles over the vivid green enamel. The pattern is completely duplicated both inside and outside the cream soup bowl, plus the repetition of the etched band around the outside of the bowl. Two brilliant gold handles provide the finishing touch for this two-piece set. 6" diameter saucer, 4.25" diameter bowl, plus handles x 2" tall. As a point of interest, Lenox produced a similar, heavily gold-encrusted dinner set about the same time period, and the dinner plates, alone, sold at that time, for $800 each, documented. We have been unable to identify this pattern by Royal Worcester, but consider it a step above that Lenox pattern which was its contemporary. Only the most slight, scattered wear to the gilding presents all four pieces in excellent condition. c. 1929. $20 US Shipping. | |||||||||
