19th C Glass & Pewter Hand Engraved Tankard Signed

Covered Blown glass tankard, or stein, with thick, applied handle, pewter hinge which appears to be hand-forged, extended horsehead decoration. Commemorative message on beveled glass lid inset which reads in script, "Ch. Fennel 12/7 79." The engraved initials, "F. L." appear on the reverse of the glass, under the horse. The glass has a slightly yellow tinge, while the lid inset shows a geenish tinge. A large hand engraved goat appears on the front, undoubtedly of significance to the commemoration. Origin is probably Great Britain. 8" (20.32 cm) to top of horsehead; 3" (7.62 cm) diameter base. Excellent condition. c. 1879. $20 US Shipping.
