| Nice pair, original miniature oil paintings, stylized signature on the paintings, and marked on backing paper, "Ida Pittman, 1969" (1893-1984 United States) on one, and "Pitman" on the other. Ida Pittman was the First Lady of Nevada from 1945-1951, wife of Governor Vail Pittman. Her full name was Ida Louise Brewington Pittman. We have been unable to find a reference to Ms. Pittman's having been an artist, although she is the only "Ida Pittman" who is revealed in our extensive search; and there are no descendants from whom to obtain information. We offer these paintings with the note that Nevada's First Lady, Ida Pittman, as the painter, is unsubstantiated, but strongly suggested. We believe these were taken from scenes on the Pacific Ocean, likely near the area where Ms. Pittman resided, in California, in her later years. The larger image is 4" x 5" (10.16 x 12.70 cm), framed in wood to 7" x 8" (17.78 x 20.32 cm); the smaller is 2.75" x 3.5" (6.98 x 8.89 cm), framed in wood to 4" x 4.75" (10.16 x 12.06 cm).
