Oil Portrait by Frances Neubauer Early Gilt Frame
The jury is still out on whether or not this lovely portrait is a likeness of Jane Jayroe, Oklahoma's 1967 Miss America. The title "Miss America," and the artist's name and date, "1967," are written on the reverse of the canvas panel. The lady in white wears a gown, as well as jewelry which are both typical of the styles of the 1960s; and indeed, the elegant, gilded wood and gesso frame, "Made in Italy," is near the same period, although probably about 10 years earlier. 24" x 18" (60.96 x 45.72 cm), framed to 28" x 22" x 2" (71.12 x 55.88 x 5.08 cm). Two frame corners have minor missing gesso (upper & lower left); painting in excellent condition. c. 1967. $45 US Shipping. *[this item is clearance-priced; please read our "Sales Policies" page for return restrictions.]
