| Monochrome Pastel Chalk, of Basilica di San Marco in Venezia (Saint Mark's Basilica), viewed from the canal, gondolas in the foreground, "Venedig" (Venice) skillfully sketched by Egon Schmidt (1898-1958) well respected German painter and print maker. Monogram signature lower right in the same red chalk, as well as graphite inscription on verso, "Egon Schmid, 1947 Italien." Image is 11.5" x 8.5" (29.21 x 21.59 cm), framed in Italian Rococo wood and gesso frame, to 21" x 18" (53.34 x 45.72 cm). The piece has been matted to museum standards, using conservation materials. The drawing is in very good condition with no stains, tears, or folds; and the frame shows its age with scattered missing gesso and some cracking at the corners. c. 1947. $22 US Shipping. | ||||||||||
