Modernist Enamelware by Russian Serge Nekrassoff
Three matching pieces by Serge S. Nekrassoff, modernist artist, famous for his Enamel on Metals, these on Copper. Born c. 1893 in Russia, he came to New York and opened his first shop there in 1925, working in pewter and copper; moved to Connecticut in 1931. These pieces bear the mark "Nekrassoff" stamped in script, which was used from the 1940s and coincides with the period when he began working with enamels. Red, white, and black enamel on copper, the bowl is quite large at 9" (22.86 cm) diameter, and 1.50" (3.81 cm) high; the small plate is 4" (10.16 cm) diameter; and the cup is 3.25" (8.25 cm) diameter by 2.50" (6.35 cm) high. Excellent condition. c. 1940-1952. $20 US Shipping.
