| Rare and a quite unusual piece of 19th Century Venetain glass, positively identified as by the glass house of Salviati Dott. Antonio. While tazzas, bowls, goblets, vases, and small plates are usual finds in Venetian glass, serving platters are seldom seen. This diamond-quilted, pale, mottled green, heavily gold-included platter measures an amazing 14.25" (36.19 cm) diameter, and 1.50" (3.81 cm) tall, with a 6.50" (16.51 cm) diameter well, 3.75+" (9.52 cm) rim. Unmistakably Salviati, as it perfectly matches a number of documented pieces which have graced our shelves in the past. Several small inclusions are scattered throughout, tiny black (ash), and a bit larger, white; a few normal interior bubbles, and the usual sharp pontil. This exciting piece is in excellent, undamaged condition. c. 1880-1890. $22 US Shipping. | ||||||||||
