Alexandrite Rare Four Color Art Glass Sculpture 20th C
Rare, FOUR-COLOR mineral combination. Exquisite mold-blown art glass Sculpture in a Lalique-like acid finish, of a very elegant lady, in long, flowing gown, perfectly coiffured hair, serene appearance. She is an Alexandrit type of glass, a combination of "rare earth" minerals that cause the glass to change color, depending on the light, from lavender (natural light), to blue (direct sun), to pink (incandescent-natural evening light), to green (fluorescent); we were only able to capture the lavender, green, and slight pink in these photos, and guarantee all described color changes occur. Unsigned, and a faded label; possibly French. She is 15" (38.10 cm) tall, on a polished base, 5.50" (13.97 cm) by 4.50" (11.43 cm). Close examination shows tool marks where there was final hand-shaping done to the sculpture. Excellent condition. c. 1930-1950. $30 US Shipping.
