Chinese Export Turquoise Blue-Green Glazed Lion-Dog Figure Kangxi Period, 1662 - 1722
Fantastically rendered, this amusing lion or dog standing on small artemesia leaf, all thickly glazed in turquoise, eyes picked out in black and white. A very challenging glaze to control, this one shows evidence of support underneath. Kangxi Period, circa 1662 - 1722. Sweet form in perfect condition.

Fantastic specimen collected in the region in 1990's. Splendid depiction of peyote fueled shamanic ceremony near San Blas, Jalisco, Mexico. Huichol indian yarn art uses skilled hands, animistic religious visions, thin natural dyed yarns laid in a beeswax encaustic mixture to adhere the individual threads. Measures 24x24, signed, with complete storyline in Spanish on reverse.

A high country ca 1835 Sheraton style chest in thick solid cherry and curly maple. Made in Cass County, Indiana in 1835. Signed with provenance. Attributed to James Henry, born circa 1804 in Tennessee, arrived in Miami Township in 1832-33 and settled next to David and Catherine Berry Miller, also amongst the earliest settlers in the county and the original owners of the piece. Absolutely rare and original bench made buckboard wagon low seat with back. Found in the 1970's and probably made in New Orleans ca 1890-1910. Features original green paint on weathered cypress and rusty iron brace supports in fantastic patina. Interesting conversation piece and rare object from old Louisiana. Measures 10 h to the seat, about 15 inches high to top of the back, and about 30 inches wide.

Wonderful ca 1996 Frantz Zephirin painting from Haiti. Measures 16 x 12 inches, acrylic on canvas framed in Haitian craved oak frame. Brilliantly layered feather-like patterns melt in and out of each other as two siren figures merge out of the background. Or are they burning back into the background? Who knows. Wonderfully executed by one of the best Haitian artists of our time.

Fantastic example of this desirable form of hand-carved slingshot from Guatemala and dating to the first half of the 20th century. Fantastically carved into profile of resplendent quetzal, the national bird of Guatemala. Measures approx. 4 inches long. Slight residue on top where original gum rubber deteriorated, easily removed with wax. Superb oily patina from use. Great example. Ca 1930s.
