Please refer to our stock # P40 when inquiring.
c. 2nd Millennium B.C.
This figure depicts the goddess Astarte and is an excellent example of the “bird-faced” type. The only features present on the face are the beak-like nose and two pellet eyes. The headdress is elaborate and is accentuated by the incised decoration. The figure’s jewelry is depicted by six horizontal pierced lines on the upper chest. The two hands cup where the breasts of the figure would be, although they are not actually depicted.
Slight chip to the base, otherwise in excellent and original condition.
