This pendant contains a handmade micro mosaic depicting the mosaic which adorns the Church of the Multiplication in Tabgha, Israel. Tabgha is located on the shore of the Sea of Galilee and is believed to be the site where the miracle of the loaves and fishes took place. It is for this reason that a church was built on the site in the mid 4th Century CE. The mosaic shown on this pendant is a reproduction in miniature of the mosaic in front of the altar of the church depicting four loaves of bread with a fish on either side. In our interpretation we have chosen to represent the four loaves with diamonds to match the diamonds on the 18K gold setting as well as to highlight the importance of the event.

All of our micro mosaic pendants are hand made from natural Jerusalem stone by highly skilled craftsmen and experts on ancient mosaics. They are created using the same techniques used to restore ancient mosaics.

“Late in the afternoon the 12 disciples came to him. They said, “Send the crowd away. They can go to the nearby villages and countryside. There they can find food and a place to stay. There is nothing here.” Jesus replied, “You give them something to eat.” The disciples answered, “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish. We would have to go and buy food for all this crowd.” About 5,000 men were there.”

“But Jesus said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about 50 each.” The disciples did so, and everyone sat down. Jesus took the five loaves and the two fish. He looked up to heaven and gave thanks. He broke them into pieces. Then he gave them to the disciples to give to the people. All of them ate and were satisfied. The disciples picked up 12 baskets of leftover pieces.” (Luke 9: 12-17)
